🍖 Slow Cooker Mutton: The Four-Hour, Two-Spice Miracle

Some dishes demand twenty ingredients, three pans, and a prayer. And then there’s this one — a dish so honest it feels like a quiet conversation between heat and meat.

Ingredients (very few):

  • Mutton, bone-in
  • Salt
  • Turmeric
  • No oil. No water.

Method:

  1. Place the mutton pieces in the slow cooker.
  2. Add only salt and turmeric.
  3. Do not add water — the meat releases its own juices.
  4. Cook on HIGH for 4 hours.
  5. Open the lid and watch the meat fall off the bone.

Your Serving Mood:

• The Purist: Eat it exactly as it is — clean, golden, tender.

• The Artist: Add garam masala, pepper, or Kashmiri chili at the end.

• The Rebel: Sprinkle oregano and pizza seasoning; serve with sourdough bread.

Why It Works (A bit of kitchen science):

  • Slow heat breaks down collagen into gelatin.
  • No water = concentrated flavour.
  • Turmeric + salt do all the foundational seasoning.
  • Mutton fat melts slowly, keeping everything moist — no oil needed.
